It is designed to offer a balance between immersive flight experience, cinematic video capabilities, and ease of use. The Fly More Combo is targeted at both newcomers to FPV flying and seasoned drone operators who require a robust, ready-to-fly solution. With the inclusion of DJI’s latest goggles, motion controller, and extended power solutions, this package provides a complete and enhanced flying experience directly out of the box.

1. Aircraft Design and Flight Performance

The DJI Avata 2 builds on the form factor and protective design of the original Avata, introducing refinements in weight distribution, flight agility, and build durability. The drone maintains a ducted fan architecture, which encloses the propellers within integrated guards. This design not only increases safety during close-quarters and indoor flight but also contributes to a more stable flight profile in complex environments.

Constructed using lightweight composite materials, the Avata 2 is compact and easy to transport, yet rugged enough to endure minor impacts—a common occurrence in FPV operations. The drone is capable of reaching top speeds of approximately 97 kilometers per hour when operated in Manual mode. It offers three primary flight modes—Normal, Sport, and Manual—each catering to different skill levels and flight intentions. These modes allow users to transition from assisted control to full acrobatic freedom as they develop their skills.

The drone features advanced flight assistance systems, including GPS-based positioning, altitude hold, and DJI’s Return-to-Home (RTH) function. The RTH automatically initiates if the connection to the controller is lost or the battery level drops critically. DJI has also implemented a “Turtle Mode,” which allows the drone to autonomously flip upright in the event it lands upside down—an especially useful feature during FPV practice sessions.

2. Imaging System and Camera Capabilities

At the core of the Avata 2’s imaging system is a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor, which represents a substantial upgrade over many compact drones in the FPV category. This sensor is capable of capturing 12-megapixel still images and records video in resolutions up to 4K at 60 frames per second. For users interested in slow-motion footage, the drone supports 2.7K resolution recording at up to 120 frames per second.

The lens features an ultra-wide 155-degree field of view, enabling an immersive perspective that captures the dynamic nature of FPV flight. Advanced video stabilization is handled through a dual-system approach: RockSteady, which smooths out rapid vibrations and movements, and HorizonSteady, which maintains a consistent horizon line for level footage even during aggressive maneuvers.

Video output can be captured in standard color modes or DJI’s D-Cinelike color profile, which provides a flatter color response ideal for post-production and color grading workflows. Internal storage is another key feature; the Avata 2 offers a generous 46 GB of onboard memory, reducing dependence on external microSD cards and increasing reliability during high-speed recording.

3. DJI Goggles 3 – Immersive Viewing Experience

The included DJI Goggles 3 are integral to the FPV experience. These goggles utilize dual micro-OLED displays, each delivering 1080p resolution per eye, resulting in vivid color reproduction and high contrast levels. The visual clarity is essential for navigating complex environments and executing precise maneuvers.

One of the most notable features is the incorporation of head-tracking technology. When enabled, the pilot can control the drone’s camera gimbal simply by moving their head, allowing for a more natural and intuitive flight experience. Adjustable diopters within the goggles make them accessible to users with varying vision needs, and the comfortable strap system allows for extended use without fatigue.

The goggles operate on DJI’s O4 video transmission protocol, which enhances both the range and stability of the video feed. Pilots can expect low-latency video transmission—often below 30 milliseconds—and a maximum effective range of up to 13 kilometers in ideal, interference-free environments.

4. DJI RC Motion 3 – Simplified and Intuitive Flight Control

Included in the combo is the DJI RC Motion 3 controller, which represents a shift away from traditional dual-stick controls in favor of a more accessible motion-based interface. The controller is held in one hand, and users steer by tilting the controller while pressing a trigger to accelerate. This approach significantly lowers the learning curve for new pilots and allows for more fluid and instinctive control.

An integrated emergency brake and hover button provides immediate stabilization, and the “Turbo Mode” function allows the drone to briefly accelerate for rapid position changes. The RC Motion 3 is fully integrated with the Avata 2 and Goggles 3, providing a cohesive control ecosystem that emphasizes simplicity without sacrificing responsiveness.

5. Power Management and Charging Solutions

The Fly More Combo includes either two or three Intelligent Flight Batteries, depending on the variant. Each battery provides a maximum flight time of approximately 23 minutes, although real-world durations may vary based on wind conditions, flight style, and payload. These batteries feature DJI’s intelligent power management system, which monitors cell voltage, charge cycles, and temperature to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Charging is facilitated through a 3-bay charging hub, which allows users to charge up to three batteries sequentially. The charging hub connects via USB-C and supports Power Delivery (PD) protocols, meaning that users can leverage a wide range of modern chargers and portable power stations.

6. Connectivity and Flight Safety

The Avata 2 supports DJI’s latest O4 transmission system, which builds upon previous generations to offer improved reliability, faster data rates, and superior resistance to interference. This is particularly important in FPV applications, where real-time feedback is critical to pilot performance.

In addition to the standard obstacle detection and RTH safety features, the drone includes geofencing alerts, altitude limitations, and customizable flight boundaries via the DJI Fly app. The system is designed to be compliant with regional flight regulations while providing adequate freedom for creative use.

Conclusion

The DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo is a highly refined FPV system designed to serve both novice pilots and experienced enthusiasts. With improvements in camera quality, flight performance, video transmission, and control ergonomics, it represents one of the most accessible and complete FPV solutions available from DJI to date. The Fly More Combo enhances this core offering with multiple batteries, a high-quality charging solution, and transport accessories, making it a comprehensive choice for users seeking extended and uninterrupted FPV operations.
